Managed Valkey Alternative on AWS, Google Cloud and Azure
A managed Valkey-compatible database that runs commands on every core. 45% less than ElastiCache for Valkey and 47% less than Memorystore for Valkey at 5 GB with a replica.
KiviDB speaks the protocol and commands Valkey does, so Valkey clients connect unchanged. KiviDB Cloud runs it for you on AWS, Google Cloud or Azure, for less than the managed Valkey services, and the engine uses every core instead of one thread.
Against the managed Valkey services
The same dataset, replicated across two zones, on each service's cheapest configuration that holds it.
| Dataset, with a replica | KiviDB Cloud | Amazon ElastiCache | Memorystore |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 GB | $95.54 | $174 | $180 |
| 25 GB | $393 | $480 | $562 |
| 100 GB | $1,570 | $1,918 | $2,246 |
Monthly, 730 hours, a primary and one replica in another zone, US regions. KiviDB Cloud: Pro on AWS from the live rate card. Others: each service's cheapest published configuration that holds the dataset, from its list price as read on October 5, 2026; the exact configurations are listed under "How we compared" on the home page.

Everything a managed database should come with
- Three clouds, or your own account AWS, Google Cloud and Azure, in the region you pick, or inside a cloud account you own (bring your own cloud).
- Replicas and failover On Pro, a replica in another zone takes over when the primary is lost, and the hostname does not change. 99.95% committed availability; 99.5% on single-node Essentials.
- Backed up An append-only log on paid plans, snapshots on demand or on a schedule, restores into a new database, and exports into your own bucket.
- Private and encrypted A firewall closed by default, private connectivity on all three clouds, TLS, client certificates and encrypted replication.
- Watched Metrics, logs and alerts in the console, a Prometheus endpoint per database, and a weekly maintenance window you choose.
- Billed by the hour Prepaid credit, charged for the hours a database runs. No annual commitment, and the price of any size is on the pricing page before you create it.

Prices are live quotes from the rate card, at standard throughput. Google Cloud and Azure are priced on the pricing page. The free tier is a 100 MB shared sandbox with a seven-day lifetime budget, one per owner.
Move over without a rewrite
- Create a database On the cloud and in the region your application already runs in.
- Bring the data Import an .rdb file as a snapshot, or replicate from your current Redis primary until you cut over.
- Change the address Your Redis client, your commands and your code stay as they are. The compatibility page lists the few things that differ.
Questions
Can I use my Valkey client with KiviDB?
Yes. KiviDB implements the same protocol and command set, so Valkey GLIDE, redis-py, ioredis, Jedis, go-redis and other Redis clients connect unchanged.
How much does managed Valkey cost?
For 25 GB with a replica in another zone, ElastiCache for Valkey listed at $480 a month and Memorystore for Valkey at $562 (read October 5, 2026). KiviDB Cloud costs $393 for the same.
Is KiviDB a fork of Valkey?
No. KiviDB is a separate engine written in Rust. It is compatible with the Redis and Valkey protocol, and runs commands on every core.
