Load into KiviDB: migrate from Upstash to KiviDB

Load into KiviDB. Migrate to KiviDB: Move from Redis, Valkey, ElastiCache, Redis Cloud, Aiven, Aerospike, Hazelcast and more: getting the data out, loading it

Self-hosted KiviDB

From the exported RDB file:

kividb --dir /var/lib/kividb --preload-file rdb:/backups/upstash.rdb

The server does not start if the file cannot be read, so you never get an empty server by mistake.

From a copy tool: start KiviDB first, then run the tool with KiviDB as the writer, as above:

kividb --port 6380 --requirepass "$KIVIDB_PASSWORD" --dir /var/lib/kividb

KiviDB Cloud

  1. Create the database. Turn on Lua scripting if your code uses scripts, and TLS. Turning either on later restarts the database.
  2. From the RDB file: Snapshots → Import a snapshot, upload the file, and create a database from it, or restore it into an existing one. A new database can also be seeded from an https:// link to the file, such as a presigned S3 URL. The file can't be larger than the database's data size.
  3. From a copy tool: allow the copy machine under Configuration → Network → Allowed IPs, download the CA certificate from Configuration (kividb-ca.pem, which RIOT uses to verify the database), and run the tool with the host, port and kividbapp password from the overview.
  4. If your application will use REST, turn it on: Configuration → REST API. It takes a few minutes to become Ready.
