Before you start: migrate from Redis Cloud to KiviDB

Check what the database uses
The console shows the version, the memory used, and (on the database page) Advanced Capabilities when search, JSON, time series or probabilistic are on. From a client:
redis-cli -h redis-12345.c12345.us-east-1-mz.ec2.cloud.rlrcp.com -p 12345 \
--user default --pass "$REDIS_PASSWORD" INFO server | grep redis_version
redis-cli ... MODULE LIST
redis-cli ... DBSIZE
Add --tls --cacert redis_ca.pem if TLS is on.
To find which keys are of a module type, count types over a sample:
redis-cli ... --scan --count 1000 | head -100000 | \
xargs -n 100 sh -c 'for k; do printf "TYPE \"%s\"\n" "$k"; done' sh | \
redis-cli ... | sort | uniq -c
ReJSON-RL is JSON, TSDB-TYPE is time series, and MBbloom--, MBbloomCF,
CMSk-TYPE, TopK-TYPE and TDIS-TYPE are the probabilistic types. (The
command above breaks on key names with spaces or quotes; it is for a quick
look.)
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Time series keys | An RDB containing them is refused as a whole; copy them over commands with RIOT |
| Probabilistic keys | KiviDB has no Bloom, Cuckoo, Count-min, Top-K or t-digest commands: rebuild those in your application, or keep them elsewhere |
| Search indexes | Not in a backup: list them with FT._LIST and save each definition (FT.INFO) so you can run FT.CREATE again |
Lua (EVAL, EVALSHA, FUNCTION) in your code | KiviDB needs the lua or full build; on Cloud, turn on Lua scripting when you create the database |
| TLS, mutual TLS | The tls or full build; on Cloud, turn TLS on (and client certificates if you used mutual TLS) |
| ACL users and roles | Recreate them in KiviDB |
| Eviction policy | Set the same one in KiviDB; KiviDB's default is noeviction |
| Active-Active | Copy over commands; see Active-Active |
Size it
The database's Metrics tab shows Used memory, and Pro databases show Memory used under Performance. Size KiviDB from the peak, with headroom. KiviDB Cloud seeds a database from a file only when the file is no larger than the database.
