This guide moves data from Memorystore for Redis, Memorystore for Redis Cluster or Memorystore for Valkey to KiviDB, either one you run yourself or KiviDB Cloud. It covers getting the data out, loading it, switching over with little downtime, and the changes your application needs.

None of the three lets you replicate out: SYNC, PSYNC and REPLICAOF are blocked (on Memorystore for Redis, REPLICAOF is blocked and replication is not offered). That leaves two ways out:

  • An RDB file in Cloud Storage: an export (Memorystore for Redis) or an exported backup (Redis Cluster, Valkey). It is a point-in-time copy.
  • A copy tool that reads keys over normal commands, from a VM in the VPC. It can keep following changes until you switch.
