This guide moves a cache from Azure Cache for Redis (Basic, Standard, Premium, Enterprise and Enterprise Flash) or from Azure Managed Redis to KiviDB, either one you run yourself or KiviDB Cloud. It covers getting the data out, loading it, switching over with little downtime, and the changes your application needs.
Microsoft has announced the retirement of Azure Cache for Redis: Enterprise and Enterprise Flash on 31 March 2027, Basic, Standard and Premium on 30 September 2028. If you are moving off it anyway, this is the same work as moving to Azure Managed Redis.
Neither service lets you replicate out: SYNC, PSYNC, REPLCONF and
REPLICAOF are blocked, and their geo-replication only links caches of their
own. What you can do depends on the tier:
| Tier | Export an RDB to a storage account | Copy over normal commands |
|---|---|---|
| Basic, Standard | No | Yes |
| Premium | Yes (page blobs) | Yes |
| Enterprise, Enterprise Flash | Yes (.gz block blobs) | Yes |
| Azure Managed Redis (every tier) | Yes (.gz block blobs) | Yes |
